ServerScan Help - RKF Variables

Overview - ServerScan Help Index - ServerScan Download
RKF Variables listing with details on what they actually do when loaded into ServerScan.

RKF Creator

Variable Description
Server IP / Host Enter your servers IP address or hostname.
RCON Password Enter your servers RCON password.
Port Enter your servers Port address.
Allow Hostname Changes The servers hostname is the name that appears in Gamespy and similar game server browsers. This option is very important if your server is branded by your hosting company. Many hosting companies will add their website address to the start of the server hostname i.e. "jolt.co.uk - [Tatakai]Public". Removing this could result in your server being cancelled as a breach of their T&C's.

Selecting 'Allow Hostname Changes' will allow the hostname property to be altered. This is not recommended with a branded server for the above reasons.
Allow RCON Password Changes Pretty self explanatory. Checking this option is not recommended as it defeats the whole object of using the RKF system in the first place!
Allow Public Password Changes Allow the user to alter the password used by public players to join the server. Changing this from a null password will obviously make your server private. If you allow your users to set-up your server for matches then you will want to select this variable.
Allow Private Password Changes Allow the user to change the private slot password.
Allow User To Save Password Depending on if you have RKF Security enabled this option will allow the user to save the password they enter at the login screen so that they are not required to enter it again when loading the RKF in the future.
Allow Gametype Changes Allows the user to alter the gametype the server is playing out.
Allow Server Crash / Quit Allows the user to send a crash / quit command to the server. Not recommended unless you have an auto-restart script.
Allow Vote Enable Allows the user to enable / disable voting.
Allow Config Execution Allows the user to run the 'exec' command.
Allow Map Rotation Changes Allows the user to alter the map rotation currently running.
Allow Friendly Fire Allows the user to enable / disable friendly fire.
Allow PunkBuster Commands Allows the user to send PunkBuster commands. Only supported with Call of Duty v1.4+ and United Offensive.
Allow Server Polling When enabled the user can turn on polling. This sends a serverinfo and status to the server to refresh the various displays in ServerScan at a defined interval. This is not recommended as users can easily refresh the list when needed by pressing the shortcut keys. Enabling polling can add extra processing work for your server to cope with.
Allow Server / MOD Config Allows the user to load the Server / MOD Config window. The user can change numerous variables on the server when this option is enabled. Commands restricted by other variables are still banned however. You can edit the commands available for each Server type / MOD by looking at the files under the Command Files directory.
Allow Execute Button Enables / disables the Execute button.
Allow Say / PM Buttons Enables / disables the Say and PM buttons.
Allow MOD Specific Menu's Enables / disables access to MOD specific content.
Allow Game Specific Menu's Enables / disables access to each Games specific content.
Execute Local Config On Gametype Changes If enabled, when the user alters the gametype through the menu system a local editable config file will be executed instead of the default in-built settings. These config's can be found within the ServerScan install directory under the Server Config's directory. You can alter these files and send them to your Clan Members with the RKF if you wish.
Execute Server Config On Gametype Changes Similar to the above variable except instead of executing a local config file a config file on the server will be run using the exec command. This is more secure as server bound configs can not be altered easily by other Clan Members and there is no need to distribute the server configs every time you make a change as they are stored centrally. This is the recommended way of using ServerScan. The configs must be named correctly! See the Server Configs directory under the ServerScan installation path for an example of the naming convention used.
Allow Player Warning Allows the user to send warnings to players.
Allow Player Kicking Allows the user to kick players.
Allow Player Limit Changes Allows the user to alter the maximum number of players permitted on the server at any one time.

If you are renting a server you will probably have a fixed player limit. It's therefore best to disable this variable to reduce the risk of breaking the hosting companies T&C's.
Allow Player Bans / Exclusions Allows the user to ban players and exclude players from being banned. The type of ban / exclusion can take several forms depending on the game and patch version you are running.
Allow COD Permanent Banning Allows the user to permanently ban a player from the server using Call of Duty's banning feature. This feature was added from patch v1.2+. If you do not have root access to your server it is recommended you disable this function as removing the ban may not be easy.
Allow From Name Changes

If ticked the user can alter their fromname. This is the name that is added to any commands that are sent to the server i.e. "Gametype changing to ***** - From: fromname". This setting can only be disabled if you are using the htaccess method to secure your RKF file(s).

Poll at Start-up If ticked ServerScan will start polling your server as soon as it starts.
Announcements Filename You can alter the Announcements file that each RKF uses. This enables you to have a different set of messages for all of your servers should you wish.
Log Filename You can alter the log file that each RKF creates/uses. This enables you to have a different log file for each server if you wish.
Enable RKF Security If disabled any user that gets your RKF will be have access to your server. We recommend you enable RKF Security. You have two methods of securing your RKF's. We have constructed a section on it's own for this topic so please visit the RKF Security page for more information on these variables.
Enable Server Mode Informs ServerScan that it's running as the sole server and is servicing all ServerScan clients in use on that gameserver. There must only be one copy of ServerScan running with Server Mode Enabled per gameserver. Do not enable this setting on the RKF's you send to your Clan Members! This for example enables the Enforcement and Announcement features. Something which you don't generally want all Clan Members to be setting up and using.
RKF Name Enter the description of your server. When ServerScan is loaded this description will be shown.
Command Blocker Please visit the RKF Command Blocker page for info on this feature.
Allow Map Reloads / Restarts Allows the user to reload and restart the current map.
Enable Enforcement System Please visit the Enforcement page for info on this feature.
